      Founders Day Award Winner
Holly Breckheimer
Holly Breckheimer has graciously served PCY over the past eight years. There are not many positions or jobs she has not held and /or chaired. She is currently serving on the PTA Executive Board in a two-year term as the Executive VP and will be the PTA President next year. She has served on the Board as Ways of means Chair. She has contributed to PCY and our children by chairing 6th grade activities not once, but twice, she has served as a room rep countless times, volunteered in the PCY library weekly, and has chaired the PCY Holiday luncheon, Back to School luncheon, and Staff Appreciation luncheon. She was the prize booth Chair for the PCY Country Fair for three years as well. While volunteering at PCY, she is additionally active in the PTA at LCHS 7/8 as well! She makes these jobs look effortless and always has a huge smile on her face.

     LCFEF Gala is March 16th
Hello PCY Parents!
My name is Sunyoung Fahimi and I'm a PCY mom with children in 6th and 1st grade. In addition to being a part of our wonderful school community, I also serve as a volunteer for the La Cañada Flintridge Education Foundation and this year I'm co-chairing our annual gala with Caroline Anderson. All district parents are welcome and our gala committee has been hard at work putting together what is sure to be a fun night of fundraising at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown!
I wanted to personally invite all of you to attend and help us make the night a success! LCFEF raises over 2 million dollars every year to fund core programs in our district. Most importantly, the money we raise keeps our kids' class sizes at 20 to 1 in the primary grades and 30 to 1 in the upper grades. Compare that to schools in neighboring districts that averaged 35 students in their kinder classes last year! The money also pays for all of the "extras" that other districts have done away with long ago, like art, music, computer, drama, PE, etc., which we know are essential to a quality education that celebrates all facets of our kids and their talents!
Please join us "Under the Big Top" next Saturday, March 16th at 5pm. Come and gather with your fellow parents for a special night in support of our kids and enjoy delicious food, specialty drinks, music, and a most awesome silent auction!
To purchase your tickets, please call the LCFEF office at 818-952-4268 by Tuesday. Hope to see you there! ??

Makers Faire is Coming on March 15th
School Maker Faire is a mini version of a Maker Faire, which is part science fair and part something completely different! Maker Faire is a gathering of individuals and teams who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. All of these "makers" come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. Everyone else comes to get some great ideas and to experience making, too! Our district wants to start the Maker Movement by:
  • showcasing the making already taking place on our campuses
  • connecting with larger creativity, innovation, STEAM, or art initiatives
  • cultivating awareness of the Maker movement
When: Friday, March 15, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: La Cañada High School
