Founders Day Award Nominations Due November 13th
Our school community is an amazing place thanks to those who contribute in so many ways to make our children's lives better. Every year, at the Founders Day celebration, PTA recognizes individuals who have made an exceptional effort to improve our children's educational experiences. These honorees include teachers, school staff members, parents, and other volunteers.
We all know at least one parent or teacher who very much deserves this honor. Please take the time to nominate that special someone by visiting our website,, and filling out the Honorary Service Awards Nomination Form. You can either turn it in to the PCY office (basket marked "Founders Day") or email it to Jennifer Riegler at or Susan Harlan

Science Night Out - Thursday, November 15th
Science Night Out on Thursday, November 15 at 5:30pm:
Science in Art: How Conservators Use Science for Authentication,
Preservation, and Restoration
When we refer to "The Masters" in art, we're typically referring to artists so great they've become household names. But some would argue that those who restore and authenticate art are even more masterful, because not only do they have to be fluent in the various skill sets of The Masters, but they also have to be well-versed in the science that drives how we ensure these works remain for future generations to enjoy. And this terrific intersection of art and science is the subject of our next Science Night Out.
Mark your calendar and plan to join us on Thursday, November 15 to hear John Griswold, Conservator for the Norton Simon Museum, walk us through the science behind preserving, authenticating and restoring some of the world's finest pieces of art. As usual, we will have pizza and an activity at 5:30, and the talk at 6pm. The event is free and no RSVP is required.
      ALF Drama Program
"where everyone can shine"

Attention students in grades 5 - 10.   Looking for something fun to do after school starting in January of the new year? Katelyn Fike, Assistance League of Flintridge (ALF) Drama Director, will prepare students for a performance of Disney's "James & the Giant Peach JR". The play is a delightfully offbeat adaption of the classic Roald Dahl adventure of a boy and his insect friends as they journey across the ocean. Young actors will love playing the outlandish and larger-than-life human and insect characters. This adventurous musical is about courage and self-discovery.   Rehearsals for the winter production begin on January 15 and take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:45 - 5:30 PM at both ALF and Lanterman Auditorium. The performance will be on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 7PM. Online registration is open. A fee of $275 is charged for participation in the program. For more information, visit the ALF website at or contact the ALF Programs Office at 818-790-2211.
