Dear PCY Family,

This week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation week! We have the opportunity to show our Teachers and Staff how much we appreciate all they do. We are beyond fortunate to have the most incredible Teachers and Staff ever! They are constantly going above and beyond day after day  to ensure our children have the best environment and curriculum available to them. Id like to say a very special THANK YOU to each of you Teachers and Staff members. You each bring something special to our school and we are grateful for you!

A huge congratulations to our Mathzilla participants! What a fun evening! Thank you to Jennifer Ringo, Sunyoung Fahimi and Hillary Gregg for helping coordinating this fun event!

Have a wonderful week in paradise!
Warmest Regards,

Valerie Talbert

Annual PCY STEAM Spring Challenge - May 11th
It's time for the PCY STEAM Spring Challenge!

The focus of the 2018 Spring Challenge is on recycling - we want your kids to use materials you already have! With that in mind, using only 10 full sheets of newspaper and no more than 30" of regular ol' Scotch tape (or similar brands), we challenge PCY students to construct a chair that will support the weight of a 12" stuffed animal. The chair needs to have legs, a seat that does not touch the ground, and a back. Arms on the chair and other features are optional.

Then join us after school on Friday, May 11 in the Quad to test the designs. Keep in mind that May 11 is a collaboration day, so we'll be in the Quad from 11:35am until noon! Have fun designing and testing! We can't wait to see what the kids come up with.

We will have popsicles for participants in the 2018 STEAM Challenge.
     Mathzilla 5.0! Results
PCY Mathletes competed in the district-wide elementary math competition Mathzilla 5.0! on Thursday and represented us proudly! Team PCPi tied for 1st place with PCR in the 4th grade team relay and placed 1st place in the 5th grade team relay. 4th grade team members included Gavin F., Jackson R., Spencer S., and Kyle Y., and 5th grade team members were Kian F., Sohan G., Sophie L., and Kaylee T. Individual medals were awarded to Ian K. in 6th grade speed test and Cammie H. in 6th grade problem solving. PCY 5th graders placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in problem solving with Jack K., Zoe P., Bryan G., and Kian F. sweeping the category. Kaylee C. and Cecilia K. battled in the Rubik's Cube Challenge and placed in the preliminary and final rounds. Although PCR took the School Trophy in the end, all of our participants gave a valiant effort in competing against the toughest mathletes in the district. Great job PCPi!
