2018 LCUSD School Maker Faire is coming on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at La Cañada Elementary School.
A School Maker Faire is a mini version of a Maker Faire, which is part Science Fair and part something completely different! LCUSD School Maker Faire will be a gathering of individuals and teams who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Interested "makers" come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. Everyone else comes to get some great ideas and to experience making, too! This event is free and a great way for all ages to spend a Saturday. Our district wants to start the Maker Movement by:
showcasing the making already taking place on our campuses
connect with larger creativity, innovation, STEAM, or art initiatives
cultivate awareness of the Maker movement
Watch this video to learn more about the Maker Movement.
If you are interested in sharing something you've made and presenting at our School Maker Faire, please fill out and submit this form ASAP!
LCHS 7-12 Home Tour - April 27th
This year, the La Cañada Spring Home Tour fundraising event will be held on Friday, April 27. There are five activities to enjoy, while benefiting LCHS grades 7 through 12 programs.
First, purchase a ticket to tour four beautiful La Cañada homes. The hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and resumes in the afternoon from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
Second, dine at participating local restaurants for lunch and relax with friends. These partners will donate a portion of the bill to benefit our schools when you show your Spring Home Tour ticket.
Third, do some shopping at the Marketplace held in a private garden at 4419 Commonwealth Avenue. A variety of vendors, food and beverage trucks, and after school treats will be available between 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can use your Spring Home Tour ticket to enter, or you may purchase an all-day $10 Marketplace ticket at the gate.
Fourth, return in the afternoon to the Marketplace when your children are out of school to shop for Mother's Day and end of the year teacher gifts. A frozen yogurt truck will sell build-your-own after school treats from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Children are free to enter with a paid adult ticket. All vendors are donating a portion of their proceeds back to the schools. A list of vendors and their products are available to see by clicking here http://lchs78.org/home-tour/marketplace/
